LeopardISS - IGNIS mission

Poznan University of Technology
2024-2025
European Space Agency

Purpose:

LeopardISS is an experiment featuring KP Labs' Leopard Data Processing Unit (DPU), set to launch to the International Space Station (ISS) in early 2025 as part of the Polish IGNIS Mission, in collaboration with the Poznan University of Technology (PUT). A highlight of the mission will be the flight of Polish project astronaut Sławosz Uznański in spring 2025. During his time in space, Uznański will engage in various activities, including working with LeopardISS as part of his scientific and technological agenda. This project provides a unique platform for testing AI algorithms directly in space, allowing researchers and companies to gain valuable flight heritage for their technologies.

Mission Phases:

Phase 1: PUT will utilize the Leopard DPU to perform complex data processing tasks, focusing on 3D image mapping. These tools will have potential applications for future planetary exploration, including use on lunar rovers.

Phase 2: Scientists, institutions, and companies worldwide will have the opportunity to run their AI algorithms on the Leopard DPU, gaining critical flight heritage by validating their technologies' effectiveness in real space conditions.
